The millions of bacteria in the intestine are easily adapted to the fermentation of food or fiber. If the grain goes undigested into the large intestine, it undergoes fermentation to lactic acid to. The resulting decrease in pH leads to a change in the bacterial population. Since some bacteria to dissolve toxins through the intestinal wall into the bloodstream to die, they are carried throughout the body. In the feet, which is able to supply blood to the hoof lamellae in the vicinity are leading to laminitis.
Hindgut acidosis occurs commonly in horses to eat regularly excessive amounts of grain in one hand and horses grazing in spring and fall High fructans. Horses and ponies deficiency of the enzyme soluble carbohydrates needed to digest, are what finally fermented in the colon
